The bone Stikks were a pain to paint. My original plan to paint them blue and red were not working out well. I tried different approaches with bright colors, pale ghostly glowing bones, totem like painted bones these all looked out of place, so I repainted it for the fourth time and now they are just standard good old bones, good enough for some beating.
Since the original idea didn't worked I decided that not even the faces will glow. The big squig will bear the weight and will be the second focal point of this project, not the bone Stikks.
I also finished the armor pieces on the body. These are a bit darker than the shoulder and back pieces, because they will be mostly covered under the cape or will be in shadowed by it.
I was trying to paint as much texture on the back of the bones as well as possible without overdoing it and make it look like a zebra with lots of strips. I can imagine a bone can look better, but this was my limit currently.
Overall it looks fine. The bones are intentionally a very light color now. When I was experimenting with the colored variations the problem was that the eye couldn't really focus on anything. Green body, red and blue bones... disastrous. I like it this way now.
This is how far I got this week. Not much, but repainting the bones four times took lot of my time. The weather I quite bad this week outside, so I might be able to work more this weekend. Now finally on the squig. Let's grab the red paints!
